Dianthus — carnations, often called the “divine flowers of Zeus.” The Latin name of this plant comes from the words dios (god) and anthos (flower). Carnations have been cultivated since antiquity and are found on nearly all continents. According to records by the Greek scholar Theophrastus, the first carnations were discovered on the island of Lesbos. In Poland, they became especially popular during the communist era (PRL), when they were considered one of the most iconic flowers of that period. It is clear that despite the passing years, carnations continue to remain highly popular.
