The world does not belong to us but to our grandchildren, so it is necessary to minimize the harmful effects of civilization on the environment.

Ecopolicy

Our contribution is:

  • purposeful extraction of resources with respect for the natural environment

A substrate for plant cultivation, in the composition of which there is no peat, the so called peat free substrate, is a big challenge for the manufacturer. This is because it is necessary to select components with different properties, variable over time, so that the result is a product that is optimal for the growth and development of a group or groups of plants.

Peat is one of the resources that are difficult to renew, and we should manage it wisely. Being aware of this, the KRONEN® brand introduces full-quality substrates with reduced peat content. We mark them with a green circle.

Peat extraction is rationed, strictly controlled and subject to a number of restrictions. Mine lands from which the raw material is extracted account for only 0.4% of peat lands in Poland. (ZPP - Polish Peat)

The reclamation process of post-peatlands is done by irrigation, which prevents the release of CO2 and restores the flora and fauna typical of peatlands. The work is carried out under the supervision of environmental and climate protection specialists.

Peat, due to its physical and chemical properties and lack of impurities, is so far the best known resource for the production of professional and hobby horticultural substrates.

Peat substitutes, which are, among others, wood or coconut fibers, can be used alternatively, but only in the proportion appropriate to the substrate.

Vaginal woolly grass {Eriophorum vaginatum L.}. 

Has an important function in peatland restoration, as it is one of the first species to colonize vegetation-free areas. This plant creates the right conditions and microclimate that allows the growth of other important peatland plants, primarily mosses of the bog family.

Ecofibrex®

Ecofibrex®

The use of Ecofibrex® in substrates reduces the release of CO2 into the atmosphere. It replaces peat in the extraction of which carbon dioxide is emitted. Substrates with addition of Ecofibrex® are light, therefore the transport leaves a smaller carbon footprint.
