The KRONEN® Lawn care and regeneration substrate for regeneration of existing and starting new lawns.

The KRONEN® Lawn care and regeneration substrate is an excellent soil improver for the annual lawn care or the preparation of new lawns. This substrate is based on peat which is very high in organic matter and humic acids. This substrate contains an adequate dose of a compound fertilizer with micronutrients, required for proper plant vegetation. The very fine texture makes it easy to spread and incorporate on existing lawns or to prepare seed beds for rapid germination and sprouting.

Available in packs: 40 l

Lawn regeneration:

Every lawn needs regeneration after a long period of use. In order for it to be fully successful, it is recommended to scarify and aerate the lawn. The first treatment is scarification, which helps get rid of the so-called “thatch.” It also loosens the soil, helps remove moss, and stimulates plants to grow vigorously. In the spring, scarifying is carried out after the second mowing, when the soil is sufficiently moist.

Lawn aeration involves puncturing of the turf to the depth of 8-10 cm, which loosens the soil structure and aerates it. It improves water access to the root zone and increases the lawn's resistance to trampling.

Once a lawn is prepared in this way, care must be taken of the places where the grass has completely died out. These areas should be shallowly dug to the depth of 5-10 cm, and then the native soil should be mixed 1:1 with the KRONEN Substrate for lawn care and regeneration. In heavy soils, this loosens the structure and counteracts grass loss in the future, and in light, permeable soils, it increases water and nutrient retention. The surface should be thoroughly leveled and rolled. Sow the seeds, cover them with a thin layer of the KRONEN® Substrate for lawn care and regeneration, and roll again.

Lawn care:
After the winter period, a lawn first of all needs to be cleaned of any dry leaves and grass. This should be done by raking the lawn, simultaneously removing the effects of the so-called snow mold present in the case of a long period of snow cover. Effective lawn care also requires proper fertilization.

Starting a new lawn:
It is best to start a new lawn in early spring, when the soil still contains plenty of moisture. The first steps are to clear the selected area of any debris, stones, and weeds, and leveling it. Next, spread a layer of about 5 cm of Kronen for lawn care and regeneration on the soil and dig it to a depth of about 10-15 cm. The use of the KRONEN substrate on compact soils loosens the soil structure and on permeable soils increases soil capacity and absorbability. After digging, it is advisable to compact the soil with a roller, and then, before sowing the seeds, it is advisable to move the soil, for example with a rake, to the depth of 2-3 cm. Once the ground surface has been prepared in this way, sow seeds of appropriately selected grasses and roll again. After about two weeks, the grass will start sprouting. After the young plants have sprouted and taken root, start fertilizing the lawn.

Worth knowing:

Before sowing grass, spread the lawn substrate on the surface and mix it in with the soil to a shallow depth. Good sprouting can also be obtained by covering the mix of lawn seeds mixed with soil and compacted with a roller with a several centimeters thick layer. Covering protects the sown seeds from being washed out by heavy rains.
