KRONEN - PROFESSIONAL ORCHID SUBSTRATE

The substrate is designed for a wide range of orchids and other epiphytic plants. The orchid substrate is a composition of fractionated Mediterranean bark-chips, coconut fiber, and sphagnum enriched with macro- and micronutrients, designed for growing orchids and most other orchidaceae in pots. It is a ready-to-use porous substrate with high water permeability and large air capacity. It dries quickly.

Available in packs: 3 l

Ingredients:

Mediterranean bark:

  • Provides structure and support of plants
  • Assists in drainage

Coconut chips:

  • Helps maintain a porous structure
  • Provides aeration and drainage

  • Enhances moisture retention
  • Provides a favourable growing environment

Sphagnum:

  • Contributes to moisture retention
  • Offers additional organic matter

Fertilizer:

  • Provides essential nutrients for orchid growth

Properties:

Stable porous substrate:

  • Maintains its structure over time
  • Allows for adequate airflow and air exchange

Large air spaces:

  • Provides space and oxygen to the roots required by orchids
  • Prevention of root rot

Excellent drainage properties:

  • Ensures excess water can easily drain away
  • Prevents waterlogging and root suffocation

Potting and repotting:

Orchids can be repotted after flowering, always to a pot with a hole in the bottom. The plant must be carefully taken out and the remains of the substrate must be gently removed from the pot. When repotting, put the air roots into the pot, top up with fresh substrate and gently shake to compact the substrate. Do not compact it.

Orchids like places that are moist, bright, but not sunny (located on the east and west sides of buildings), and without drafts. Temperature: about 18-22°C. Water the plants infrequently (every 10-14 days), but abundantly. Water should not remain on the saucer. Orchids can be sprayed every few days with preferably de-mineralized water at room temperature. New flower buds best form in a dry substrate and in a cool room.

Fertilization:

Fertilize orchids infrequently in small amounts, from spring to autumn. Do not fertilize 1-2 months after you buy the plant and one month after you plant it.

Important! Keep it in a dry place in a tightly closed container. Protect it from adverse weather conditions. In case of long-term and improper storage, the properties of the substrate may change.

Worth knowing:

Popular house orchids such as Dendrobium and Cymbidium indicate the need to plant them to a new container themselves. It should be done when the roots clearly do not fit into the old pot. These plants like transparent pots. It should be moistened infrequently (every 10 days or so) preferably by immersing the pot in water (for about 40 min). After repotting, the first watering should be done after 3-4 weeks.
