Pure health

Guide

Herbs are so well known and so easy to grow that usually it is enough to plant them green side up, and they will take care of themselves. However, if we care about health and the great pleasure of snacking on crunchy vegetables, it is worth seriously considering growing at least a few of them. I assure you that this is possible not only in garden beds, but also in balcony boxes and terrace containers.

The harvests will be modest, but certainly unique and delicious, because they will grow in a substrate enriched with natural plant compost. If I have whetted your appetite, here is a list of plants that can be sown and planted in boxes.

First of all, these should include colourful lettuces, leaf parsley, and beets. The latter are grown for their chard (leaf beet) used in borscht, as their large roots are unlikely to develop well in containers.

In pots, you can grow various tomatoes; the best are dwarf varieties with small fruits, as well as courgettes and cucumbers. These naturally climbing plants will feel at home when provided with supports.

In early spring, radishes can be sown in containers, and cauliflower, celery, and broccoli can be planted. Throughout winter, in trays filled with BIO substrate for herbs and vegetables, you can grow weekly sprouts of peas and sunflowers. These are undoubtedly the most aromatic salads in the world!
